Bang Up Job

To fringe or not to fringe?  This question is one that I am sure many of you contemplate when you are craving a little bit of change.  Here are the common bang (or fringe if you prefer) types, as well as their best suited face shapes.  The face shapes are merely a suggestion though, and I don’t feel it should be a set guide for you.  The best thing to do is to consult with your hairdresser and the 2 of you can decide what would work best for you.

best suits: oval, round heart, narrow

The blunt bang will provide you with a whole new look and suits many hair types and styles, from straight to wavy to a bob.  The straight line is great at squaring off a rounder face.

Super Short

best suits: oval, heart

Some of the variations of the super short bang are straight across, the v and a little bit choppier. It will definitely add a bit of an edge to whatever your style may be.

Side Swept

best suits: oval, round, square, narrow

This is probably the most versatile fringe and can be adapted into all lengths of hair.  It also will work on straight, wavy and curly, although my personal favourite for the side sweep is when it blends into soft waves.

best suits: oval, round, square, heart, round

The wispy bang will give an overall softness and ease to your look.  It works wonders on fine hair and gives a soft texture to your overall look.

best suits: oval, round, heart

The choppy look is a bit of a heavier alternative to the wispy bang, and gives you a bit of an edge.  The look works best if your overall haircut has the same kind of texture throughout.

best suits: oval, round, heart

The asymmetrical bang is usually suited to those that are a little more daring and fashion forward.  The great thing about them is that they are actually quite low maintenance, since they are usually precision cut to a set style.

Center Part:

best suits: oval, heart

The center part bang is fantastic at adding to a retro or boho vibe, and the overall look works best with a style that looks effortless and soft.
